We've Got That Friday Feeling

After a long old week of tastings, meetings, and a lot of website design – we have finally got that Friday feeling – here comes the weekend!!

This week we have taken on some super special Pet Nat’s. For those of you that don’t know, a Pet Nat (Pétillant Naturel) is nothing new. In fact, it’s probably one of the oldest methods of making wine known to humankind. Another name for this technique of winemaking is méthode ancestrale, and it’s used to describe a wine that’s bottled before primary fermentation is completed, without adding any secondary yeasts or sugars. Pivnica Brhlovce Bonka Pet Nat 2016

This Pet Nat is a field blend of a 40 year old very small (0,4ha) vineyard. All grapes of all varieties are harvested and processed together. Skin contact is 24 hrs – and spontaneous fermentation is in stainless steel tanks. After two months, when fermentation is finished, fresh juice of the Blaufränkish has been added and the wine is bottled and let for secondary fermentation. Each of the bottles has a handmade painting on it – each bottle is original. The Colour of the wine is similar to that of blood oranges and grapefruits. There is a wonderful citrusy & ripe peach note in the aroma, with a citrus acidity and hints of forest strawberries on the palate. It’s a fruit Bomb!!

Marvla TINDO Sedimental Pet Nat 2016

Rhine Riesling grapes are collected in the ’16 vintage, It has been spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tank and let to mature on the lees for 12 months. Fresh juice of Rhine Riesling is from the same vineyard of the ’17 which has been added for secondary fermentation. The resulting Pet-Nat creates a fine sparkling wine with biscuity notes accompanied with fresh citrus-like acidity.
