La Fanfarria Blanco is from the town of Cangas del Narcea, in Asturias, and is produced by Nicolas Marcos Vicente. Nicolas hails from Toro, where his family has been growing grapes and making wine for a number of generations. But – after working briefly with Alain Graillot in the Rhone – Nicolas was convinced he wanted to make more drinkable, elegant wines and so he decided to settle in the cool northerly region of Asturias, an area more famous for its cider but with a grape growing history going back well over 1000 years to the monasteries of the Middle Ages. Very few people were farming the old vines on this great terroir and Nicolas decided to help resurrect the reputation and quality of the wines from the region.
La Fanfarria Blanco is a super-fresh, clean and saline white. The ripe apple fruit is balanced by the generous acidity of this northerly, fresh, Atlantic climate.
