The Federalist Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon intertwines bold fruit aromas and flavours black plum, blackberry and black cherry with rich toasted vanilla and spice notes from the presence of the charred bourbon barrels, sourced from the region of Lodi, one of the most central parts of California‘s Central Valley. The barrels also provide a smoky caramel finish to the wine. The powerful taste and flavour of this wine was created by different blocks were fermented separately to preserve ideal characteristics of each. Each block spends an average of 12 days on the skins. The wine spends 6 months ageing in American oak and a second 6 months in Bourbon barrels.
The whole wine-making philosophy of The Federalist is to break away from the ideals of the past, where wine was heavily regulated. So instead the priority is to make an excellent tasting wine “for the people”. From this idea, The Federalist, brought forth a range of distinctly American craft wines wrought with as much character and bold spirit as the figures that don every bottle. The Federalist wines are born from the virtues of every forward-thinking, hard-working, red-blooded American, this is The Federalist. This Is American Craft Wine.
This full bodied wine would pair well with heavy, robust dishes, meat stews or pasta. It’s also the perfect wine to serve with char-grilled steak from the barbecue, served with a simple green side salad.
