The Spanish Weekday Dinner Mixed Case consists of just 3 bottles, 1 x Alta Alella Mirgin Laieta “Gran Reserva” Cava de Paraje 2014, 1 x Tierra de Extremadura Habla de Ti 2016 and 1 x Bodegas Elias Mora Crianza 2013/14.
The Alta Alella Mirgin Laieta “Gran Reserva” Cava de Paraje 2014 is made from a selection of the best estate grapes, and is produced using the traditional method (fermented in its bottle) and bottle-aged on lees for 30 months before disgorgement. No oak is used. Being a Brut Nature, no sugar is added in the dosage before bottling to provide the pure expression of the fruit and wine. “An organic Gran Reserva cava made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pansa Blanca. The nose has a lovely toasty aroma, with a hint of mushroom and baked apples. This follows through onto the palate with a good zesty note on the finish”. – Dawn Davies MW
The Tierra de Extremadura Habla de Ti 2016 is an extremely attractive Spaniard, gently whispering in your ear. Habla de Ti translates to ‘Speaking of you‘. So this wine will definitely look after you well. Hable de Ti is a prize bottle of wine to share with a loved one, who will undoubtedly pick up on the sentiment.
The Bodegas Elias Mora Crianza 2013/14 comes from the Elias Mora winery which is situated between the Duero and Hornija rivers, the soil is comprised of large pebbles over a bed of Pliocene limestone, which is low in organic content. The extreme continental climate compounded with the scarcity of rainfall (400 mm /year) improves the quality of the Tinta de Toro grape. The winery takes its name from the previous owner of these prestigious vineyards, namely Señor Elias Mora. Their ethos is to join the past with the present, combining the valuable knowledge of previous generations with the best aspects of modern technology and all that it implies. The Crianza has a firm yet elegant tannic structure, which complements the candied blackberry fruit, violet, liquorice, fine wood and spice with notes of roasted coffee beans. A big, meaty wine.
