Slobodne Rebela Rosa 2017
The grapes for the Slobodne Rebela Rosa come from their very own “Lopata” and “Stavný Háj” vineyards in their town of Zemianske Sady. The Hlohovec wine region’s history dates back to the 14th century when planting rights were first granted. The vineyards have a South and Southwest exposition and have vines ranging from 10 to 35 years years old. They practice beekeeping in the parcels and encourage a wide amount of biodiversity. Their 17 hectares of vines form a small part of their 350ha farm, where they tend to livestock and also grow poppies, barley, wheat, rapeseed, and more.
Both varieties were directly pressed and fermented separately for about two weeks in large 1000L vats (no skin contact for either). After fermentation, the two wines were blended into a vat where they stayed for 8 months or so. The wine was racked 2-3 times, and bottled in June 2018. Unfined, unfiltered, unsulphured.
Rebela Rosa’ is a tribute to Miso’s favourite cycling race, the Giro d’Italia. The leader of the race wears the ‘maglia rosa,’ or pink jersey.
The Slobodne Rebela Rosa is a zero-added-sulphites wine and incredibly stable, incredibly delicious. It’s a complex, creamy, super fresh. Floral, citrusy, and with hints of candied fruits.
