The Mitchlits family own and run the Meinklang estate, which is a biodynamic 2,000-hectare estate in the Burgenland region of Austria. Werner’s younger brother is responsible for a herd of Angus steers that roam across the fields of their Pannonian estate. This is unique in the Austrian wine community – the herd being the source for the nutritious, organic dung that brings so much natural goodness to the 55 hectares of family vineyards. The family are also meticulous fruit growers and can also claim to have started the first holistic Demeter (biodynamic) certified brewery where they craft ancient grain beer from old varieties of wheat. Dedicated & driven, the family stand out from the crowd.
Meinklang is a lively farm compromising the three typical fields. Wine-growing, fruits and agriculture. Each family-member is specialized in an aspect of farming. Unique is the estate owns Angus & Aubrac cattle herd. It`s the farms source for our own nutritious, organic fertilizer for lively soils in the vineyards and creates the closed circle in the biodynamic Demeter farming.
