Kevin White “Blue Label” jumps out as a lively blend of Bing cherry, plum and blueberry aromas with floral and spice elements throughout. On the palate, these flavours are wrapped around a medium body with soft tannins leading towards a lovely finish. A very enjoyable wine to drink now. Kevin White “Blue Label” was designed as a tribute to the everyday Côtes du Rhône blends that are perfect to enjoy any night of the week, on its own or with food.
Starting with the 2014 harvest, the winery decided to source additional fruit from vineyard partners to create new barrel selection opportunities for the La Fraternité and En Hommage Rhone Blends. After finalizing the barrels which created those wines, and special wine club blends, they blended the remaining barrels to release as their Red Wine. Kevin White was initially inspired by wines he tasted from the Rhône Valley and when he set up his own eponymous winery, took the decision to join the early generation of Washington State Winemakers showcasing the best of what Washington could do with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. His “Blue Label”, a blend of 45% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre consistently sells out upon release, but we’ve been lucky enough to secure a small parcel.
New for 2020! Established in 2010, Kevin White launched his eponymous winery, Kevin White Winery, with a single vineyard Syrah from Washington State’s Olsen Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. While studying wine and enology prior to launching the winery, Kevin was inspired by wine he tasted from the Rhone Valley and decided that he would be part of the early generation of Washington State winemakers showcasing the best of what Washington could do with Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. His focus on higher elevation vineyards in the Yakima Valley result in wines which emphasize purity and elegance over concentration and power. Kevin partners with Washington State’s top Yakima Valley vineyards including Boushey, Upland, and Olsen vineyards to craft wines that reflect each vineyard and the unique profile of the Yakima Valley. Already garnering multiple accolades, Kevin has consistently been recognized as one of the rising stars of Washington State. Kevin White Winery produces 2000 cases a year.
