The 2017 Terre Nobili organic red wine has a sweet, rich nose of stewed red fruit, with notes of cooked strawberry, confit cherry and raspberry jam. On the palette, it is immediately soft, gentle and warming. Ripe red cherries and red plums give way to a touch of sweet spice and cinnamon. The finish is direct and intense with fresh, bright, laser acidity. The 2017 Terre Nobili is ideal with grilled and stewed meat, lamb and seasoned cheeses.
The De Stefani family began producing wine at the Colvendrame estate, between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Generations later, in the 1960’s, they bought vines in the Piave Valley (Pra’ Longo estate) and in Fossalta di Piave (Le Ronche estate) where they set up a new base and winery. Both enjoy exceptional micro-climates, due to the nearby Adriatic, the Dolomites Alps and the surrounding hills as well as a very particular “caranto” soil: a mix of Alpine white clay and minerals.
De Stefani is committed to promoting sustainability in the vineyards, the winery, and throughout the winemaking process. They utilize over crops in the vineyards such as peas, beans, rapes and sunflower. They make an organic fertilization and create an ideal environment for the proliferation of good insects. They do not add sulfites in the whole vinification process for all their wines. No chemicals for a cleaner environment. Their wines do not contain products deriving from animals, hence all of their wines are vegan. All of the vineyards are close to the wineries, this is important to optimize logistics, traceability and to decrease transit of vehicles. It also contributes to reduce CO2 emissions. On the roof of the main winery in Fossalta di Piave, Venice, they have 418 solar panels that provide 100% of the electric power needed in the cellar.
