La Boha is a red wine produced by the winery Chateau Magdeleine Bouhou. Located in the commune of Cars, in the Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, Château Magdeleine-Bouhou is an estate of 17 ha of vines planted on clay-limestone terroir. This is an ideal terroir for Merlot, which represents 65% of the vine population. There is also 25% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are grown using sustainable and integrated vine growing methods. The vineyard combines biological, physical and farming methods that respect the life of the soil and bans any chemical weed management. Wine-making by separate plots is carried out in small concrete vats that are thermoregulated to preserve the fruit’s expression and the specifics of the terroir. Supported by Stephane Derenoncourt since 2010, various work undertaken both on the vines and in the winery, has enabled the company to improve the level of the wines produced, making them a jewel of the appellation, offering wines that are full of freshness, finesse and charm.
The quality of the wine is inseparable from the quality of the ecosystem, everything starts from the vine and the soil to reach the wine. The work focuses on the whole property, with the red thread of staying closer to the grapes and wine. The great Bordeaux wines at Chateau Magdeleine Bouhou have always been made from the blend of grape varieties included in the Bordeaux culture: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Its aromatic potential is original, complex and expressive. The winery was redesigned in 2010 for partial winemaking in small thermo-regulated concrete vats. This was a key step in their winemaking process, the extraction will have a major impact on the aromas and structure of the wine.
Continuing a series of great wines, La Boha is the result of the blending of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%), and benefits from the same level of attentive care from the vine in the winery. This is evident in its round and fresh character. Its crisp fruitiness, with notes of red and black fruit (blackcurrant), makes for a supple wine that delivers instant pleasure. This offers incredible value. One of our best finds from France!
