Chateau des Annereaux Lalande de Pomerol 2015
The 500-year-old Chateau des Annereaux is presently owned by the Hessel family and is currently considered to be producing some of its finest wines for many years, prompting Decanter Magazine to call this property ‘an essential discovery for any claret lover’. It’s a very old Domaine dating back to the 14th century.
The vineyard is located west of Lalande de Pomerol appellation and is located on the middle terrace of the Valley Isle. Its soil is composed of clay, sand, gravel, and boulders – ideal for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc from which this wine is made. The winery is now organic with no pesticides and winemaking is conducted with the objective of maximizing the footprint of the soil. Extending over a total area of 25 hectares, 22.7 hectares are devoted to the Lalande de Pomerol appellation and 2.3 hectares to the Bordeaux appellation.
The vineyard leads in organic farming, in one piece, located west of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, and is located on the average terrace of the Isle valley. Its soil consists of deposits of quaternary origin (riss formation) composed of sands, gravel and large pebbles. Its gravelly nature gives it a viticultural vocation marked by its great ability to participate in a good maturation of the grapes and promote the production of great wines.
The year 2007 marks the first of three years of work in Bio, called conversion, before obtaining Qualification. After three years of efforts to master organic farming, 2010 can display the AB logo on its label.
Chateau des Annereaux Lalande de Pomerol 2015 is a brilliant ruby colour with a shade of violet. The nose dominates (black cherry) fruit, accompanied by finely woody notes. A balanced structure on the palate, with roundness and a great aromatic presence: blackcurrant, cherry and slightly spicy notes. The finish is marked by fine tannins and a long persistence in the mouth.
