Cellers Barbara Fores Blanco 2016, is named by Bàrbara Forés, Carmen Ferrer and her spouse Manuel Sanmartin, who wished to render homage to the great-great-grandmother who was born in 1828 and transmitted the art of winemaking to her son Rafael. Thus, Rafael Ferrer, a well-informed pharmacist and vintner, had the cellars built in the family home where, at the end of the 19th century, he began to bottle wine. So Bàrbara Forés means both respect and tradition. Bàrbara Forés also means the capability of every new generation to perfect and to improve the legacy received. Carmen Ferrer and Manuel Sanmartin, have transformed the old cellar into a modern installation to make fine wines.
Cellers Barbara Fores Blanc 2016 is grown in vineyards between 350 and 600 meters above sea level, where it enjoys great exposure to the sun and has limited rainfall throughout the year. The harshness of the continental climate is offset by the Mediterranean which provides an ideal climate for winemaking. The grape-harvest is entirely done by hand and at the very moment when each vine-varietal has reached its optimum ripeness.
Cellers Barbara Fores Blanc 2016 is made with Garnacha Blanca and Viognier. It is pale in colour but has an intense nose, with fragrant aromas of white fruit (pear), white flowers (cherry tree, almond tree) and freshly cut grass and fennel. Meaty and fresh and an overall long finish. This white wine from Terra Alta in Spain is a great partner for a full salad or a plate of asparagus. But is perfectly pleasant just on its own as an aperitif or an enjoyable afternoon.
