The Aaldering Florence Red was produced by Marianne & Fons Aaldering’s aspiration to produce one of South Africa’s best vegan wines began to come into fruition in 2004 when they bought a 24-hectare estate in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch. This was the birth of Aaldering Vineyards & Wines, a company focused on delivering premium quality wines to wine lovers all around the world. Over the years a devoted team was gathering which characterises itself as being young, professional, dynamic and international.
The Aaldering Florence Red has been bottled with a natural cork closure, in order to ensure a unique ageing capacity. The Aaldering Florence range was introduced to offer exciting and youthful blends that can be enjoyed regularly. The range was named after the only granddaughter of Marianne & Fons, Florence. From the Latin name Florentius or the feminine form Florentia, which also means ‘’prosperous’’ and ‘’to blossom’’. The winter was cold and wet with perfect conditions for flowering and berry set with very moderate temperatures during the growing season. 2014 was one of the healthiest and biggest crops ever in the Stellenbosch region. It was a late ripening season and with December being very hot the ripening of grapes was speeded up resulting in a very short and compact harvest. This wine goes perfectly with game or roasted lamb.
