Story
Casas del Bosque was founded in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari and was one of the first wineries in the Casablanca Valley. Today it is still family owned and managed. The Cuneo’s have 245 hectares of vines in Santa Rosa on the west side of the Casablanca Valley, considered the coolest spot in the region. Plantings include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Carmenere and Pinot Noir all drip irrigated from subterranean wells. Additionally their Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere are grown from vines growing in Maipo and Rapel Valley. The Casas del Bosque philosophy is based on the constant search for excellence. Quality instead of quantity is at the heart of their viticultural practices, as they strive to produced only the best wines possible.
All fruit was sourced from our own vineyard – located within the coolest, westernmost reaches of the Casablanca Valley. A blend of three different vineyard blocks, facing north to north-west and from vines with an average age of 12 years. Sourced from hillside blocks planted on red clay over decomposed granite. The blocks used in this blend were cropped at an average of 4.2 tonnes per hectare (1.7 tons per acre). Deep garnet in colour with a purple hue. On the nose, notes of blackberry jam, black cherry, pepper, vanilla and cloves dominate. In the mouth, the wine is big and ripe, with mouth-coating tannins and a long, pleasant finish.
